Latino/a Research and Policy Center, UC-Denver

The University of Colorado at Denver has been selected, along with 17 other institutions, to study the unequal burden of cancer within certain minority or underserved populations. Dr. Estevan Flores, Director of CU-Denver's Latino/a Research & Policy Center and Principal Investigator on the study, says the $1.76 million National Cancer Institute (NCI) grant will assist the Center in building a Latino community-based network of health clinics and organizations throughout the metro area as well as three migrant clinics north of Denver.

Flores says the money will go toward creating a network of 25 clinics, community-based organizations and employee associations where people can receive information on cancer prevention, reducing cancer incidence and mortality. This will improve cancer survival and access to health care within the Latino community. For more information contact Dr. Flores at (303) 620-4167.
